Day and night

In long matches night falls, a little before the late hours. At night towers can’t see as far, except near the springs, which glow.

Since v19.

When night falls

A match starts in daytime. Night falls only once, 150 s before the Late hours, and it lasts until the end: the late hours are the deepest part of the night. It never falls before minute 15:00. In a match without late hours, like Siege, it falls at minute 20:00. The sky announces it 20 s ahead, to both temples, and meanwhile it gets darker. At night there is a moon next to the clock. At the Wind level the late hours come at minute 22:00, and the night 150 s before. At the low levels the late hours come sooner, and the night with them. With the Long night rule or the Early Hours Omen, night comes sooner too.

What changes

  • At night a tower shoots up to 80% of its range.
  • Near a spring, within 3 cells, a tower sees its full range, like in daytime. At night the springs glow, and around each one a light circle shows how far their glow reaches.
  • At night the range circle of a tower shrinks; the full range stays marked with a dashed line, like under the Fog sky. See Towers and targets.
  • The night doesn’t change the wind, the faith, the Veiled or the buildings that don’t shoot (Wall, Mist, Shield).

How to play at night

Before it falls, bring a few towers near the springs, yours and the contested ones: there, at night, they shoot farther than enemy towers far from the springs. At night whoever holds a spring has its wind and also towers that see far.

Why

At night the wind that comes out of the rock can be seen: it glows. The rest of the sky is dark, and from far away shots are hard to see. See The story of Aeolia.

Where there is none

On the Route of the Winds there is night only in the last three skies, Rocca Renastella, The islands of Olmafonda and The skies of Crowstone: the route teaches one thing at a time. In the tutorial the night waits until the lessons are over.

What’s new

  • v24.6 Evening, night and storm change the colour of the clouds. Clouds never cover towers, rings or bars.
  • v24 Four great miracles, one per God: Cloud Tide, Night of Bolts, Joining Vortex, Long Noon. You get only one per match, from the fifteenth minute, with the temple at the third stage. Everyone sees them coming 20 seconds early. They are in the miracles panel, under the others.
  • v23.2 The tale that opens the game has a real sky: clouds with depth and light, clouds piled up on the horizon, the moon and stars at night, other islands far away.
  • v22 A match now lasts 20-30 minutes. Wind comes in more slowly, buildings cost more, the rack refills in 7 seconds, and a fallen temple rises again after 90 seconds. The late hours start at minute 22, and you can offer a truce from minute 15. Night, visits of the gods, prayers, drifting islands and Siege waves come later.
  • v20 In Siege, night still falls at the tenth minute, but the line that explains it no longer talks about the late hours: Siege doesn’t have them.
  • v20 The village flag is bigger and you can see it at night too; after you tap, a message says which way the village will grow. Huts, houses and great houses have three different sizes.
  • v20 After a match on the Route of the Winds, the title screen goes back to the world you had chosen. Before, Skirmish started again on the route world, and there the visits of the gods, night, villages and prayers stayed off until you reloaded the page.
  • v20 On the Route of the Winds, night comes in the last three skies: Rocca Renastella, the islands of Olmafonda and the skies of Crowstone. The briefings and the diary say so.
  • v19 Night: in long matches it falls a minute and a half before the late hours and lasts until the end. Twenty seconds before, the sky warns you and gets darker; at night there’s a moon next to the clock.
  • v19 At night towers shoot up to 80% of their range. Near a spring, within three cells, they shoot as far as by day: at night springs glow, and a light circle shows how far.
  • v19 There’s no night on the Route of the Winds: the route teaches one thing at a time.
