Changing lands
Lesser islands change shape during the match. An island that’s looked after grows by one cell at its edge, an abandoned island dries out and loses one.
Since v24.
How they change
Every 45 seconds the sky looks at every lesser island. Home islands and the center island never change.
- Looked after: it belongs to a temple and has a house on it, or its belief in whoever holds it is at least 70 out of 100. After four looks in a row it grows by one cell at its edge, where the sky is free and no bridge passes. It grows by 4 cells at most.
- Abandoned: it belonged to a temple and now belongs to no one, and its belief in every temple is below 20 (belief goes from 0 to 100). After four looks in a row it loses one cell of its edge, then one every 45 seconds. An island nobody has reached yet doesn’t dry out. Never the spring, never a cell with a building or a house on it. It loses 2 cells at most, and never goes below 4.
- Neither one nor the other: the count starts again from zero.
When an island changes, its landings are counted again, as after a Landslide. A bridge that reached a landing that closed stays there with a free tip.
What it’s for
An island of yours where people have built a house gets wider: there’s room for another house or a tower. An island that’s lost and left alone slowly shrinks.
Where you find it
In Skirmish, in the World of the Day, online, in the Free world and in the Gods’ Challenges. Not on the Route of the Winds and not in the tutorial.
Why
The wind holds the islands up. Where people live and pray, the wind stays and carries up more rock; a sky where nobody lives dries out, like Sterpa’s sky. See The story of Aeolia.

What’s new
- v24 Nothing changes on the Route of the Winds or in the tutorial: changing lands, the temple in stages and great miracles are in the other matches.
