Building

Burning Mirror

The Sun’s attack tower. A circle tower: a steady ray that burns more the longer it stays on its target.

How to use it

The Mirror keeps a ray on a target within 5.25 cells. It starts at 4 damage per second and goes up by 4 every second, up to 26. It does best against sturdy targets that don’t move: apart from Walls, anything that stays put for a long time. It’s a circle tower: it shoots all around, but short. The ray is direct: an enemy Wall on the line stops it.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strong

  • The highest damage per second once the ray is hot.
  • With the Tailwind it burns ×1.5.

Weak

  • Under Rain and in a Storm it deals half damage.
  • In Fog it loses range.
  • Every time it changes target it starts over.

Counter

A Cloud Wall takes away its line. A Hail Mortar that has it on its row or its column hits it from farther away. Wait for the rain to attack where there are many of them.

What’s new

  • v23.1 When a terrace or a building is in the way, the Burning Mirror’s beam hits the target higher up instead of going through the wall.
  • v22.3 The “New in this sky” cards and some Bestiary cards say things more simply. The Cloud Wall, for example, now says: “It stops shots from enemy Gust Towers and Burning Mirrors. Put it between their towers and your buildings.”
  • v22 Towers come in two families. Cross towers shoot far, but only straight along their row and column: Gust Tower, Hail Mortar, Arch of High Winds. Circle towers shoot all around, but short: Lightning Pylon, Burning Mirror, Twin Mirror.
  • v17.1 Element study: whoever offers a Keeper studies the element the fallen side built with most, and can place its study building, even without that spring: Arch of High Winds, Thunder Well, Cistern, Twin Mirror.
  • v17 Flyers don’t need bridges, but they can’t fly for long and go back to the nest to rest. Each family has just one counter: the Mirror for kites, Mist for sparks, the Gust for clouds, the Pylon for lanterns.
  • v16.1 A Fog sky still shortens Gusts and Mirrors, but now you can see it. While you place a tower, its circle shows its range right now, and the full range stays dashed and faint. The same goes for the circles of enemy towers.
  • v06 The two sides start even, with the same mirrored pieces.
