Hail Mortar
The Rain’s attack tower. A cross tower: arcing shots that fly over Walls, slow.
How to use it
The Mortar shoots in an arc up to 8.4 cells. Each shot deals 26 damage, the highest among the towers, but it reloads in 4 s. It can’t hit closer than 3 cells: whatever stands right next to it is safe. The shot stays in the air for more than a second before it lands: a target can still disappear in the meantime. It’s a cross tower: it shoots only along its row and its column, never sideways. It has the longest range of all the towers.

Counter
Stay off its row and its column, or get close: a Lightning Pylon inside its minimum distance hits it and it can’t answer. A Vortex at the right moment cancels a volley.

What’s new
- v22 Towers come in two families. Cross towers shoot far, but only straight along their row and column: Gust Tower, Hail Mortar, Arch of High Winds. Circle towers shoot all around, but short: Lightning Pylon, Burning Mirror, Twin Mirror.
- v22 Ranges are about a third shorter: the Gust reaches 7 cells, the Mortar 8, the Pylon 4 and a half. No tower can hit a temple from halfway across the map anymore. A cross tower hits the temple if its row or column crosses the temple yard, the 3-by-3 courtyard around the temple.
