Refolo
Volana’s last breath, a moth of pale light. He teaches you to play and comes with you along the Route of the Winds.
Who he is
Refolo is the last breath that Volana sent all the way here before falling asleep: a puff of wind that came out of the small Wind spring on your island. He’s too small to hold up an island, but he knows the road to Volana, at Crowstone. He’s shaped like a moth: his body is an ember of pale light, his wings are made of mist with golden veins, torn at the edges, with two long tails of vapor. He has no face: when he talks his wings beat in time with the words and his body lights up; when he’s happy he does a loop in the air with a warmer light.

In the game
- He tells the start of the story and guides “Learn to play”, lesson by lesson.
- On the Route of the Winds he travels with you: he announces what’s new in each sky and introduces the other gods.
- He speaks in short sentences, like Volana, but as a friend. When he doesn’t know something, he says so.
His story: The story of Aeolia.

What’s new
- v23.3 In “Learn to play”, Refolo is the same 3D moth as in the tale, next to the lesson speech bubbles. With graphics on “Low” you get the old drawing.
- v23.3 In the tale you hear Refolo’s wings at every beat, softly, instead of a constant flutter.
- v23.2 Refolo is a 3D moth: wings of mist with golden veins, beating slowly.
- v23.2 The tale has a soundtrack: strings, harp and the four-note theme, one note for each god, with the wind, the rain, the stones, the footsteps and Refolo’s wings. It starts at the first tap.
- v22.1 Tutorial, first lesson: to zoom in, one turn of the scroll wheel or a short two-finger gesture is enough. If nothing happens after a few seconds, Refolo explains the gesture instead of saying “tap right where it points”.
- v21 The opening tale is new: a film in fourteen scenes, with Refolo telling how Volana sleeps at Crowstone and how whoever wakes her chooses where her first breath goes. If you had seen the old tale, you see the new one once, at startup; after that you’ll find it in “The Tale”. At the end it takes you to “Learn to play”. The prologue of the Route of the Winds is now a short reminder.
- v19 Sky Diary: after every sky you win on the Route of the Winds, Refolo writes a page about that sky. You can read it at the end of the match and from the world card; all the pages are in the wiki too.
- v15.1 New: “Learn to play”. Eight short lessons, one thing at a time, led by Refolo, a breath of wind. A hand shows where to tap.
- v15.1 In the tutorial you never lose: if something goes wrong, Refolo offers “Try again”. You can also hear his lines read aloud.
- v15.1 The back button works in the tutorial too: first it closes Refolo’s speech bubble, then it opens the pause.
